I had a huge head cold. Sniffly, head pressure, coughing, going hot and cold, watery eyes, etc. Sudafed and allergy medicines havent helped at all. What do you take when you have a bad cold that actually helps?

I can only take ibuprofen, which stinks, but it does relieve some of the sinus pressure.

With lots of water and tea. It loosens up everything.

“What do you take when you have a bad cold that actually helps?”

I take a day (or two) off.

Sometimes Tylenol sinus can get me through the first and last days of a cold.

I also take Advil Cold and Sinus. It is the one that is kept behind the pharmacy counter and you have to give your license to purchase.

Advil does have some other cold and congestion medicine that is on the shelves.

I hope you feel better soon.

I like Muscinex. They also have a nasal spray that works well. If you live near the ocean (and are not in any of these hurricane zones) go to the beach for about an hour or so. The salt air can do amazing things for colds and respiratory infections!

Hope you feel better SOON!

The Aleve cold and sinus that's behind the pharmacy counter/you have to show your license for works wonders for me. I also use a Netti pot a few times a day.

I'm really careful to read the boxes to make sure I'm not doing the opposite of what I need. For example, if I have the sniffles, I take an antihistamine. If I'm stuffy, I take a decongestant. If it's a little of everything, I take Tylenol Cold and Flu since it seems to cover it, and it has the med that breaks up the congestion in my chest. My sister swears by Advil Cold and Sinus that's over the counter. I think it's similar to the Tylenol that I take.

I recently had the head crud and only took meds in the morning when I was going to school or going to bed. I've always heard it's best to let it runs its course as much as possible. Sipping hot tea with honey was really helpful, and I kept cough drops in my pocket to counter cough attacks. I also took chewable vitamin C. Thankfully, mine never turned into a fever or infection.

Hope you feel better!
