I teach 4th grade and was wondering if anyone had a great chapter book read aloud to share. I'm looking for a book that has recently come out.

I read Out of my Mind by a different author. It came out last year and it is a great book. I teach 5th and my kids loved it. A girl is in a wheelchair and can barely move and can't speak, but she is brilliant. It has emotional ups and downs but it is a good one. When you reach me by R. Stead is another good, newer book. Moon over manifest is brand new and very good. Dead End at Norvelt is another good one.

I have been trying to read as many new books as possible just because I want to mix the classics up with some new pieces of literature kids may have never even seen.

this is a book by Katherine Applegate about a gorilla which is housed in a mall. It is loosely based on the story of a gorilla that now lives in the Atlanta Zoo, I believe. The story is told from the point of view of the gorilla.

Holes! They could not get enough. Then afterwards, I got permission to watch the movie with my class. We had Zero Bars and Doughnut Holes as a snack that went with the book...Zero and Holes!

They also like Frindle, Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing, and Skeleton Man.
