Electric Pencil Sharpener

Does anyone have any experience with the X-ACTO TeacherPro Electric Pencil Sharpener (1675)? I have some money through Adopt A Classroom that I need to use, and I really need a good, heavy duty pencil sharpener. They don't offer a lot of choice through Office Max in Adopt a Classroom. I hesitate to spend it on that, though, because I have not had good luck with pencil sharpeners. Is there another brand you would recommend? Thanks for any help!

1670 and have had it for two years now. I don't let the kids use it. I sharpen the pencils. I usually train 1 or 2 reliable students to use it to help me but that's it. I don't even let my para use it.

EPS11HC which is normally around 100.00, but Amazon has it for less. The good thing about the sharpener is that the blade is replaceable so you don't have to buy a whole new sharpener. Some of the teachers at school just bought them, but we haven't used them very long.

Call Bostitch and ask what they recommend for you. They do have one that will sharpen colored pencils without dulling the blade, I believe.

Get it through Office Max, and then purchase their service protection plan for $5.99. Mine is the School Pro one. I'm on my 3rd one now (after about 4 years) and since each time I purchase the protection plan, when it breaks, they just give me a new one. To me, it's worth the 6 bucks! I just carry in the pencil sharpener (I also keep the box and paperwork) and the service protection plan and when they give me the new one, I purchase the service protection plan on it. The only cost to me is the $5.99.

Be sure to not let them sharpen colored pencils- I have read they gum up the sharpener, so I stopped and the sharpener has lasted much longer. I bought some inexpensive hand-held sharpeners for color pencils in the common class supply of them.
