Nesting?

I've never birthed a child, but I wonder if there's such a thing as instinctual nesting for non-pregnant people?

On February 1, we go from all-virtual teaching to parent choice of virtual or face to face. In the last 3 days I have purged a car load of stuff, dropped it off at Goodwill, packed up Christmas, purged/reorganized my pantry, made freezer meals for at least a couple weeks.

Have any of you gone through what I'm calling "transitional nesting"?

It hit me after my husband passed earlier this month. I have been cleaning out closets, drawers, cabinets..... I have donated a trunk full of clothes and a trunk full of household items. I felt a need to be busy and the house needed some organizing so I started "NESTING". It is a good way to lift your spirts as it always feels good when you have organized and cleaned something well.

The feeling is very much the same one I got before each of my sons were born.

I did a lot of the same things, purged, redecorated the house, did some other projects when my youngest left to go to boot camp. I think I needed to stay busy and feel in control when I was losing a bit of control. So I do think there are different reasons why people get the urge to go through these transitional ‘nesting’ periods.
