What are some things you put on your wish list for parents to help at the beginning of the year?

Lend a helping hand

Given that our back to school event is held on the second day of school, I will wait to purchase some items and request parent's help. I purchased hand dye cuts and wrote a word on each finger " lend a helping hand by" and in the palm wrote " donating....." Items include Clorox wipes, facial tissue, expo markers, band-aids, play- dough, wide ruled paper, and puzzles.

I try to think about special projects we will do throughout the year and request some of these items- modge podge, ribbon, etc. I also ask for a couple of bags of wrapped candy for desk fairy treats. This year I plan to ask for wikki stix, play dough, and clipboards. I check my cabinet and see if I need paper plates, napkins, etc.

I have learned to be very specific- 1 bag of wrapped candy, 1 package of large, white paper plates.

This year

I'm asking for gently used board games or activities they can use during indoor recess. My stuff is really old, and we have to stay inside if it's above 95. Being in Texas, that can be a good chunk of the first month or so. I also ask for project related items that I know we will be using this year. I just feel lucky to work in a district where parents can/will help!

I usually have some simple stuff, like craft supplies. This year I have some more specific things on the list, like picture books I hope to use later this year and a few games. If parents don't choose some of those items, I know our parent organization will help with some.

I'm wondering how to display my wish list though. How do you all plan to display or communicate your wish list?
