Our school is going through reading/language adoption. And one of the choices is the Benchmark Education Writing and Reading. Just wondering if anyone has experience with this and how you feel about it?

My district looked at it and thought it was not linked closely enough to the common core.

Run away! I was on my state's committee to review curriculum as it aligned with Common Core. Benchma provided inadequate and late materials for review. When we wanted more information, the Rep disappeared. Look elsewhere.

Benchmark Writer's Workshop

We use the Benchmark Writer's Workshop. I like it a lot because the lessons are clear and the materials are included. The only thing I don't like is that make reference in the manual to "interactive writing resources", and these must not have been developed, because I do not see them anywhere on their website. We called the company and they weren't able to give us any information, either. We have Lucy Calkins materials from my previous principal, but they are too hard for my students. This is grade level specific and very user-friendly. We do not use their reading materials, so I can't help you there.
