Creative ways to post Hopes and Dreams

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Please share your most creative way for creating a Hopes and Dreams Bulletin Board. Here is what I did last yr:

"On the Road to Success" was the title. I had little cars that the kids decorated to represent them. I stapled them to the background paper. The background paper was made out of old road maps. The kids wrote their hopes and dreams on little highway signs that were also stapled to the paper. I had larger highway signs with our rules on them because our rules will allow us to reach our hopes and dreams.

I also like how Caltha Crowe calls them hopes and goals...I could sense a soccer, hockey or football theme...

I take a picture of each of the students and then have them decorate T-shirts and write their Hopes and Dreams on them. They turn out really cute.

I don't know where I got the idea. It may have been the book. I honestly can't remember I have been doing the same for years and my book is at school.

My students draw their hopes and dreams on a cloud. The parents trace their hands on colored construction paper and write their hopes/dreams for their child for the year. The hands are attached to the clouds to look like clouds with wings. They go up on the wall and stay up all year.

I have kids create a symbol about their hope

or dream for the school year. We look at a lot of different symbols in general, and then the creativity comes out. Kids have to remember that symbols are not elaborate drawings. Then each kid gets a 4 x 4 square to draw the symbol with regular pencil. I ask them to make it large- that it has to touch at least 3 sides of the square. Then they go over it with a black sharpie. The past couple of years I've had them choose one part of their symbol to color in with 1 colored pencil. I laminate them all, and post them all year on one of the classroom cabinets. Some years I've put them on together on a piece of black construction paper (12 on 1 piece of paper?) and laminated them that way, so they look a little bit like a quilt.
BTW I show the one for my hope or dream- to be on time for specials!

Simple saying for me as well: Our Hopes and Dreams

Last year I had my kids create self-portraits with multi-cultural colored paper (their head and shoulders basically) and then put them up on my black bulletin board. I typed up their dreams and posted it by their creation. It was so beautiful that I nearly cried. I am totally going to do the same thing again this year.
