Homework Help

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Hi everyone,
I have a student in my class who is partially blind and does not have use of his hands. His mom is wondering what homework options are out there as the homework I send home involves writing the answers of some sort. She's been typing them and isn't happy with that. I suggested that he do the same assignments but orally, and would give her a tape recorder. She wants something different but I'm not sure what. She is mainly focused on reading homework. She has him listen to our weekly anthology story on cd already. Any suggestions for me?
Thanks!

let me get this straight, she has a son who is partially blind but wants him to READ?

Surely she doesn't actually want him reading the text.

Here's what I would do. Have the student recall/retell the story on tape. Perhaps she can give him some parts of the story to orally sequence.

Treat him as a non-reader who has good listening comprehension and go from there.
