I've been looking at different resources for teaching current events.

Time for Kids

Dogo News

Scholastic News

Scholastic Teachables

I've used Time for Kids for years but I want to know if there is something better or less expensive out there. Let me know your thoughts and ideas!

I teach math, but I had a broadcasting elective this year also. I used CNN10 which is online. They have new ones every day and they are short video clips with stories on a little bit of a lower level. I found a free worksheet to go with it on TPT as well.

I used Time for Kids in the past and really loved it, especially since it also has a comprehensive online component with it.

Yes, CNN10 is free. Like I said, I found a graphic organizer on Teachers Pay Teachers for free from the Golden Apple Learning store.

I love CNN10, but I feel 5th grade is the lowest grade I can use. Itís more geared towards grades 6 and up.

The site for tweens is interesting. Iím curious how you use the site with your 3rd graders.
Do they view the materials whole class then discussed? Write in journals? Thank you so much for sharing this great site.
