This classroom is amazing! I love the colors and the fabric curtain. Also the furniture she's using for her teacher desk is so pretty.

Wow, it's beautiful! I wonder:
-How much she spent (the leather chairs!)
-If she painted the walls, or just worked with the color (I hate my white cinder-block walls!)

I am so jealous! I'm heading to the craft store this afternoon so I can get some things to make my room pop.

I wonder if she is in public or private school. We aren't allowed to do much in our rooms.

After reading today's post on the blog, I'm guessing public school, room was painted that way, and very lenient fire marshal. (3rd grade teacher has a bunk bed, arm chair, and wooden bench in his room)

Looks like a pretty cool place to work!

Wow, this classroom is actually really calming and not overdone/ too cluttered. I LOVE the reading area! Some of our teachers have leather couches like that and it is awesome.

She's really nice too! I came across her blog last year and emailed her about her word wall (I had a question about the fonts) and she got right back to me!

I know I'm the odd one out, but I don't like it at all. It looks way too formal, like the waiting room of some very expensive pediatrician's office or something. When I see a room that is this meticulous and coordinated, all I can think is: how much instruction goes on, how often is she nagging the kids to be clean/neat, what relationship does she have with other teachers, etc.

I must find that carpet she has for my master bedroom. I tried googling it (the design is called "quatrefoil"), but didn't come up with anything. It looks like the exact size and color I need.

That was a beautiful room. I would love to have my room look like that, but I think I counted about 40 things that I would be told to remove immediately. Especially the beautiful chairs. lamps and drapes on the windows. Even the bins on the top of the closets would be taken away!
Boo hoo!!!

I'm thinking it'll looked more "lived in" once school starts.

Also my personal preference is to have more student created things up but she has room for that. I'd love for her to post pictures a couple months into the school year!

... those leather chairs. I think she got them at Target. I look at them every time I am in there, but I can't afford them Plus, they would look really out of place in my shabby classroom

Thanks Ladies!!!

Wow! Thanks for all the compliments on my classroom pictures! I really appreciate it!
I noticed you had some questions...
We do have a fire marshall and he is not lenient. I have been on his naughty list twice but I am also in charge of logging the fire proofing that we do and this year I am up to code.
Our school is public.
It is 5 years old and it came painted as is.
We have overhead sprinklers in the classroom, so as long as your items are situated a certain way it works for the fire marshall.
My chairs are not actually leather...more like pleather!
They are mini. I got them at a store called garden ridge.
We teach daily 5 so that is why we are allowed the pillows.
I am not a neat nazi in fact my class destroyed 2 chairs and one bookshelf last year. Gotta love it.
I fully expect my gray carpet to be stained in the first week. My guess is chocolate milk since we have breakfast in the classroom.
I LOVE creating a home environment because we have lots of kiddos that can hugely benefit from it. (but don't we all?)
Right now my room is bare bones. It will be covered with our work soon. If you follow my blog you can see how it changes through the year!
Thanks again ladies! What a neat surprise to find this thread! Teachers ARE AMAZING!!!

I too, loove your classroom! It's so neat and organized and not cluttered. You've put a lot of work into your room and it shows! It's very inspirational! Love it!!! (I shared it with my site today.)

Cool that you saw this thread! Actually I've gone back and looked at your classroom pictures (several times!) and you don't have a lot that would be against my school's strict fire code (besides the curtains ). Your room gave me some great inspiration for making my room more pleasant and staying within strict codes.

And you've referenced Garden Ridge several times...wishing I lived near one!

I have this long "to do" list this week!

I love how they painted something other than sterile white. I thought it came like that as I noticed the same colors in other rooms.

I guess everyone has their own taste! I share everything I make with my team and other teams. I adore my colleagues actually. I love collaborating and I wish you wouldn't be quick to judge someone based on how their class furniture is arranged. I appreciate your perspective as I can see that the "formalness" of my fake leather can seem less kid friendly. I assure you I am all about the kids and instruction. Blessings!

A question. I saw on the other link the other classrooms and bulletin boards that you posted. Are those all from your site? I was just thinking what amazing classrooms everyone has! I love Mr. Herzog's nook and the apple bulletin board. I wish I were as creative as you all...everything looks great!

Also wondering, how many students do you have?

Thanks,
De'Anna

Yes the second link is to a blog post I did at my school. Each one of those rooms is in my school. It is a BIG school for elementary if you ask me! This is my 6th year there.
