Hi,

I am looking for a great picture book (or lesson ideas) to use with my fifth graders to teach cause and effect. Thanks for the help!

It may be a bit baby-ish, but the "If you Give a Mouse a Cookie" books.

Here's a list (it only goes up to grade 4) of books for "Cause and Effect": http://www.readworks.org/books/reada...tid_2=4&title=

Here are more "cause and effect" pinterest pages: http://pinterest.com/search/?q=cause+and+effect

I hope that helps!

This is a short easy picture book story that teaches the concept of cause and effect well. You can label every page with a sticky not as cause or effect.

What about Boxes for Katje,
Smoky Night,
Brother Eagle, Sister Sky

Also, think about nonfiction. Any book that would support your curriculum in SS or Science may support cause and effect.

Thanks so much for the suggestions!

I am modifying an idea I found on TPT w/ If You Give a Moose a Muffin- Love the ideas and I have filed them away for the next time cause/effect comes around (next week I believe).

I use this classic tale for cause and effect. Each effect becomes the next cause. It is also great for onomatopoeia as each animal has its own sound when startled.
