Getting ready for another tantrum possibly from her. I know it's her not me but I'm so sick of it. It's like she can't stand that I don't act as miserable as she does. I think she'd be more satisfied if I were a giant stress ball.

Might be posting quite a bit, appreciate everyone's patience

Working with someone like this is very stressful. Keep calm and let her explode. You have the right to walk away. You can tell her that you see she's quite upset and you would be glad to talk with her when she calms down. She's not 3 years old and you are at your workplace. You don't deserve someone ranting at you. Good luck. Summer is coming.

Once your co-worker starts to explode, just look at her and say, "Not dealing with this today. I have kids to teach," and walk away. I wish you well while you deal with this and wish I had more advice.

She didn't exactly explode.

We have to team teach sometimes....and are required to "collaborate" in meetings.

Her explosions have happened with kids in the room.

Well, vents are definitely allowed.

The good news is that she has enough self-control to be able to act appropriately in front of the students. Now she needs to extend that self-control further.

Love the image of you as a giant stress ball. Just imagine what would happen if you were to give her a stress ball!

she does do it in front of the kids. and in that environment I'm not allowed to leave nor do I want to leave the kids with her.

She doesn't just yell at me she yells at literally everyone including kids.

Is the P aware of this? Why is she allowed to act like this?

I would tell her (not in front of the kids) "I've noticed you said ( ) in front of the students. I am giving you fair warning... if this happens again, I am going to administration. If you are upset, talk like an adult to me. You don't take it out on students."

I know it's hard to deal with someone who isn't stable. You might consider talking to an administrator about what's already happened. Have your ducks in a row... write down dates and things that happened that concerned you. You are justified in standing up for yourself and your students. This may be considered a hostile workplace and your coworker may need mental help.

And writes her up constantly. I think there's a ton of red tape involved.

It sounds like administration is working on documenting cause for firing or some serious consequences. Help by notifying admin when the teacher negatively affects learning or the work environment.

In the meantime, shrug it off, as best you can. Clearly her actions are not because of you.

Thank goodness the end of the year is close.
