Middle school math teacher interview

Hi. Iíve been teaching math only at the ES level. Now, I have to do a demo lesson tomorrow as part of my interview for a MS SPED math position.

The interviewer asked me to do it at the 7th grade level.

Now Iím a little puzzled.. do I have to do it aligned with 7th grade level assuming the students already know 6th grade level math?

Since this is for sped, typically the math lesson is 2 yrs behind the grade level.

Whatís your suggestion? Is there any resources or demo video I can refer to?

You must do 7th grade standards

But differentiate for lower access.

A big standard is working with negative numbers. Google zero sum ruler for integers. Gen ed uses absolute value, but the zero sum ruler is a manipulative that makes it concrete first, and then the next step would be using absolute value.

I teach pull out math in middle school.
Hope this helps!
Good luck!
