After years in 5th and 6th gr. Would love some book recommendations for students. My team has quite a few choices but I feel some newer choices are needed. They have Shiloh, Tales Of 4th grade Nothing, Enormous Egg, 100 Dresses, A Taste Of Bkackberries are some. Anyone do One for the Murphys Of Fish in a Tree? We also have Because Of Winn Dixie and Maniac Magee.

I teach genre studies . I use some of the ones on your list. Additionally, Lemonade War, Joey Pigza for realistic fiction. Any Roald Dahl (BFG, James and Giant Peach) for fantasy.
Don't forget lots of nonfiction and poetry too.

George Washington's Spies - especially if you have the American Revolution as one of your SS expectations.

Rules
Bridge to Terabithia
Hatchet
The Summer of Riley is a good one to to along with Because of Winn-Dixie

There are some new titles there and some I had forgotten I have like Bridge to Terabithia. Wish we could do Hatchet but 6th gr does. Love Joey Pigza books. Thanks again.
