Is there a website where I can get a christian "scholastic" monthly book club order form for my first grade class? I tried God's World, but the website doesn't work. Any suggestions? Thanks.

They sold the company out to another company and they stopped the book club a year or so ago.

Not sure if Christian Book distributors puts out a school edition I know I get the monthly catalog.

Keep us updated if you find it or something similar. I would love to know about it and use with my students.

Every once in a while Scholastic puts out a book club flyer for "inspirational" books. It's not necessarily Christian, but I don't recall finding anything objectionable in it. I do send out the regular monthly Scholastics and let the parents judge the content. I did draw the line at Golden Compass and told my kids I'd not place orders for those books. I also told them the premise and they were horrified that such a book existed! Not a one of them saw the movie.

I send home the regular Scholastic book orders. On the back, I draw a line with marker through any books that I won't order. I try to leave it mainly up to the parents, but there are some that I draw lines through.

If anyone comes up with a Christian book club though, that would be great!

There is a Christian book club out there, called "God's World"

Here's the info on it:

Gods World Book Club
P.O. Box 2330
Asheville NC 28802

828-252-3255

Similar to Scholastic Bookclubs in presentation - the order forms look the same, but the books are Christian.

Make sure you keep copies of your order and checks though, I have had trouble in the past with lost orders.

I just called God's World at the phone number listed in the previous post and the lady on the phone said that the club was sold. It no longer exists anywhere. I am on hold with customer service to see if there are any other christian book clubs out there. I will keep you informed with my search. ~ Well, I just got my answer... she said that there isn't any out there that she is aware of. Too Bad!!!! now I am frustrated. I guess I will sign up for scholastic and cross out any books that I refuse to order. That is more work for me, but at least there will be something. Thanks.....

WE used Gods world too up until they were sold :-(
Last year was our first year using scholastic. (using them this year too). We sent home a note to parents asking them not to order books that would be deemed inappropriate for a Christian School.
We crossed out books on the order form that fit that description.
No one complained, which was good. Scholastic is good and their phone reps very helpful. I have been very pleased with their service so far.

Angel Book Club. It's based in California. It's not online yet, I don't think. If I get a new mailer from them I'll post the address and phone # if you'd like. They are not monthly, though. 3-4 times a year.

I send home Scholastic, but I always attach a letter to parents that says they are to purchase at their own discretion and to be aware that I do not screen for inappropriate content since every family has different standards. Every once in a while there's a book that I don't want to order, and I just tell the kids I won't order it and why. No one has complained doing it this way, and it's easier than going through the catalog myself (especially since sometimes I'm not familiar with every book).

Faith Book Club will have on line order forms for this 09 Fall. Each reading level will have an order sheet that can be printed out by the teacher and sent home with the students. There will be book rewards for the teachers depending on the size of the order. This will give the teacher, school or library a chance to build their selection.

http://www.booksforfunds.com/

They do book fairs ( at least in KY & TN) but they have an online component. They're a bit more pricey than Scholastic, but they are Christian books.

Try christianbook.com, I've ordered mostly adult books, but I remember seeing something that you could request a kids flyer.
