I wanted to create a lesson plan template on the computer to make note of all the focus lessons and objectives (I am required to have literacy lesson plans seperate from my regular lesson plans on my desk).
Before I begin, just wondering if anyone has created a template for the Daily 5 already? If you don't mind sharing, I would love to see it!
I've been searching online for a lesson plan template to use for reading workshop and writing workshop along with Daily 5. I came across a great one on Jessica Meacham's fabulous website, BUT it is in pdf. It is exactly what I'm looking for! Does anyone know how I can change this so that I can enter my own information????
I created a lesson plan template. I used a template already created by Jessica Meacham and changed it a bit for my own classroom (with her permission). Anyway, it incorporates the Daily 5 within my reading workshop and maybe it will be helpful to someone on here.
I thought maybe that was your work on the second grade MSN site! I absolutely love this. I am going to try your thinking about teaching my basal whole group. I am getting a bit overwhelmed with all of this. I am sure once the year starts I will be fine-right???
I just joined proteacher. I would love to try to use your template, do you mind if I use your template for my lesson planning? The reason I joined was to help me with creating better lesson plan template, because I was struggling on my own.
Hi, just love your weekly planner. Oh to have computer skills to add and attach files the way you do. I have a request that might seem strange to some. (who have computer skills) I am however not one of them. Our school requires daily plans with each subject. I would like to have a simple form with your outline. I hope I can take your ideas (with permission) to change into a daily schedule. Such a caring and giving group to share ideas,,
Thank you beachbum for creating and sharing this template! I want to use your template and I am required to share my lessons on google docs. When I download the template onto google docs it gets distorted. Do you know how to download it correctly onto google docs? Thanks!
You may use this template. That's why I shared it. I'm actually using a different one this year since I'm only teaching literacy. As far as google docs, I don't know much about it. So sorry that I can't help you out. Maybe someone else knows more about it. Good luck!!!
I created cards to display in a pocket chart... students just move their clips to show which area they are working in. They are supposed to be index cards, 4X 6 size but I converted them to a pdf to preserve the font. You can probably just print them on cardstock. I can email them to you if you'd like
Thank you Beachbum for the spring board for creating the lesson plans! I also teach only literacy - ESOL 1st through 5th grade, and would love to see the new plans when you get a minute. I love my job, but detest the 5 grade levels of literacy plans and guided reading plans. Do you put your guided reading group focus sheets seperate from this? That is where I am hitting a wall to make the plans useable, but not take three hours a week to do. Thanks again!
Thanks so much for your template. It is great. I teach third grade and adapted it for my Readers Workshop. I do not use the Daily Five but do have guided reading groups with Laura Candler's Power Reading Workshop Methods. So I changed it a bit for that. I hope you don't mind that I made it my own.
My lesson plans are all aligned to Common Core Standards. I teach 2nd grade in Kentucky and we have completely transitioned to the Common Core this year. Hope this helps someone. I love the Daily 5....and so do my students!!! ))
beachbumteach...I was searching for Daily 5 stuff on the site, read your post, opened your lesson plan link...
I saw LHS at the top, and HOBO at the bottom... are you by chance at the other unique K-12 school in my district? I'm at BHS.
Now that school is out, I will be on PT but during the school year I rarely ever have time to get on here with everything else going on. Yes, I teach at LHS and we are K-12!! My best friend teaches third grade at your school!! Small world!!!
3sonsbaseball, I am wanting to create a lesson plan similar to yours. I teach 2nd grade. We are just starting Common Core this year. Did you find your ideas for lessons on-line or are all your lessons from your own creative thoughts? Finding ideas is a big big job. Thanks.
Do you all do Treasures? It would really help me if I knew what was important to do from the Treasures lessons. They just give us the book and said teach. No one really knows what is important to teach from Treasures. Some teachers teach different parts and I don't think that's right. I think it should be consistent across the board. You can't teach all of it.
It is 2013 and I am just getting on board with ProTeacher and Daily 5. I love this lesson plan and tweaked it a bit to include detailed components of my math and writing workshops. Thank you so much for sharing!
Are you still using this lesson plan and have you made progressive changes to it?
I LOVE, LOVE the templates posted here! I was curious if anyone could help me out with a few things that I needed to add or take out to make it fit with my class schedule! I'm not that familiar with the format of Word and I am worried I will mess the entire template up! Anyone willing to help?!!!
