I hope someone out there can help me I am looking for a post about a poem for parents.
An apple for the teacher is nothing really new
Except when you remember parents are teachers too!
I have used this for the past two years. However, someone posted not long ago the poem inside of an apple graphic.
Partners
I dreamed I stood in a studio
And watched two sculptors there.
The clay they used was a child’s mind
And they fashioned it with care.
One was the teacher; the tools used
Were books and music and art
One, a parent with guiding hands,
A gentle and loving heart.
Day after day the teacher toiled
With a touch both deft and skilled.
The parent labored side by side
And all the values filled.
And when at last their task was done
They looked at what they’d wrought
The beautiful shape of the precious child
Could neither be sold or bought.
And each agreed it would have failed
If one had worked alone.
For behind the parent stood the school,
And behind the teacher, the home.

An apple for the teacher…Is really nothing new, But here is one for you, For parents are teachers, too!
Have an apple for everyone and share this poem. We have several apple trees. I don’t have to buy the apples.
An Apple for the teacher
Is really nothing new
Except when you remember
Parents are teachers too!
I put the apple in a popcorn sack with a bit of tissue paper.
Staple the poem to the sack.
As sugar and flour come together to make
A wonderful cookie creation that you bake,
Parents and teachers join as one
To create an educated daughter or son.
It takes lots of love, caring and understanding
But an individual will emerge who is special notwithstanding.
We will work together to help each child bloom
So they can grow and prosper as they learn in this room.
So I share this little confection with you as I say
I am committed to helping your child grow each and every day.
Yes, the road is long, but the journey's begun
As we strive to educate your daughter or your son.
I don't think this is the one you're looking for, but in case you don't find what you want, you might be able to use this one. I'll go back and look for other one I saw here. (If I'm thinking of the same one you want, it was two on a page.)
Maybe you can help me. I opened the attachment when it was posted. I saved it to my documents. When I go into word to open it I get a teachers webpage (Mrs. Carver) It says to click control and shift to follow the link. I copied and pasted into a word doc. so that you could see it. I hope it works. I know that apple is on that website. I searched online as well for the school. Argh. Meet and greet is tomorrow night. I bought red bags so that the poem would stand out. I appreciate your thoughtfulness Risa. I will use yours if we don't have any luck. Thanks for your help!!
The First Day
I gave you a little wink and smile
As you entered my room today.
For I know how hard it is to leave
And know your child must stay.
You've been with him for five years now
And have been a loving guide,
But now, alas, the time has come
To leave him at my side.
Just know that as you drive away
And tears down your cheeks may flow
I'll love him as I would my own
And help him learn and grow.
For as a parent, I too know
How quickly the years do pass
And that one day soon it will be my turn
To take my child to class.
So please put your mind at ease
And cry those tears no more
For I will love him and take him in
When you leave him at my door.
I change the last several lines because my boys are both older now.
For as a parent, I too know
How quickly the years do pass
One day not so long ago,
I took my child to class.
If you don't have children, you could just delete those lines.
I am so sorry I didn't get to help you sooner! I got home late and was just going to do a quick check when I found your post. I tried using the page you left, and the links didn't seem to work. I did a google search, no luck, either. I decided to go back to look at the History on my computer and somehow found her website and clicked around until I got to her printables. I copied her web address and pasted it into the footer of the page.
