No one responded quick enough--that's what I get when I wait until the last minute--so I created my own color coded editing checklist. I read somewhere where students should be expected in all writing (even rough drafts) to be aware that correct common conventions are used. It was also suggested not to use the term "sloppy copy" because it relates a message that it is OK for writing to be low quality work. So, I created the attached Color Coded Quick Checklist. Thought I'd share in case anyone else wanted to use it. A formal editing check list could be used later after more detailed writing conventions are taught.
