Please answer the following questions:

What state do you teach in?

What grade do you teach?

What is you average class size?

Do you have a full-time assistant/aide/para or a part-time assistant( tell how long you have the person on a daily basis)?

I teach in Wyoming.

I teach 2nd grade...my first year this year as a teacher

I have had anywhere between 17 kids and 24. My student teaching only had around 17. I have 24 in my class now.

I believe I have a part time assistant. She will be helping me for about a half hour a day. But with our new things happening this year, I hope to even have help. They are looking into taking all the aids and making them interventionalists.

I reach in Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh

I'm moving to third after 9 years in 2nd.

I've averaged about 20-21. Presently I have 19 on my roster but expect that to change by Sept 1

This past year I had a 1:1 aide for the autistic child that was included in my room.

I share an assistant with 2 other teachers, so about 1 1/2 hrs a day.

I teach in Oklahoma City.

I have been in second grade for 3 years now.

My average class size is 13 to 16,this year I will have about 13. (Small private school)

I do not have an assistant, but the parent participation is wonderful. If I need help with a project, I just have to ask and I will have about 7 parents rushing to volunteer. Our largest class is K-4 with 20 and she has an aide. We cap our classes at 17, so I would never need or get an aide.

What state do you teach in? Idaho

What grade do you teach? first

What is you average class size? 20

Do you have a full-time assistant/aide/para or a part-time assistant( tell how long you have the person on a daily basis)?
My entire grade level (5 teachers) has one aide that does prep work for us. She makes copies, creates class book covers, put things together for us, etc. She is WONDERFUL! I would love someone to work with the kids, but we don't have that luxury.

I teach in St. Libory, Illinois (tiny rural community about 30 min. from St. Louis)

2nd Grade (this will be my 7th yr.)

I'd say my average class size is 10 (the most I ever had was 19, the least 4)

No aides

Bless your heart! I'm also a "Georgia Peach." How in the world did you teach that many hispanic children without knowing spanish? I sure hope they already spoke english. It's hard enough to get through to students without a language barrier. Where are you in Georgia? I am in Thomson, close to Augusta.

I thought I would be one of the low with my 13.
There must have been something in the water the year you had 19.... Did you have other duties or a combined class the year you had 4?

Yeah, there really must've been something in the water that year. The closest I've gotten to 19 since was 14. The year I had 4 I had one combined class for health and art with the 1st grade. Other than that it was just me and the "fabulous four" all day long. They were a great group of kids and it was my least stressful year of teaching ever!

Since then one of our teachers has been let go of "due to low numbers", so now I have 2 combined classes (health/art and P.E.). I'm pretty lucky to have a job in such a small school district.

We face that too in our private school. It is hard to pay a teacher salary if the numbers are too low. I am happy they worked it out for you. Have a wonderful year!

Because I have an inclusion class, my numbers are usually less than 20. However, if the other classes reach the max size of 25, my class size increases.
I have a special ed teacher in my class most of the day; also, the special ed aide comes in for 30 minutes. I have the use of another aide one day per week (for 30 min.) to get copies made.

I teach 3rd in a small rural community in far west Texas. This last year I only had 15 but next year will have about 22. I feel bad now for complaining about class size after seeing what some of you have to deal with. Your classrooms must be huge because I can barely fit the 22 desks in my room. My sympathy goes with you.
I don't have an assistant or paraprofessional at all. At our school only the bilingual classes have aides and only in k-2. This is regardless of class size.

I teach in a very small rural town in Connecticut.

I'll be teaching 3rd grade for the first time after 18 years in first grade.

Our class size ranges from 16 to 23. I believe I'll have about 20 this fall.

I won't have any para help this year. However, our K-1 teachers have a para for half the day. I'm sure going to miss that!

I teach in southern Indiana in a rural community setting.

I teach 3rd grade (my 25th year coming up!) Where has the time gone?

Class sizes average anywhere from 19-24 depending on the class and how many sections they let us have.

I have an inclusion instructional assistant when I am teaching an inclusion classroom. Last year I had her for 30 minutes each day. She serviced 5 classrooms.

I will be teaching G/T pullout 1-4, possibly K after Christmas. I've also taught second, third, fifth and sixth.

We have a cap of 22 students in K-4th, so no more than 22 per class, and I'll have three classes.

No assistant/aide.

I teach in Missouri - rural town growing district

I teach second grade (a wonderful thing coming from 5th!)

I had up to 29 in 5th but had about 25 most of the year in second grade. I have heard it's going to be up to 28 next year.

No aide or assistant unless I have a kiddo that needs one. I did do push in for language last year but that was really more trouble! I was better off with the language kiddos on my own! (that sounds mean...sorry.)

I teach in Michigan.

I will be teaching a 3rd/4th split next year (taught 6th for 4 years).

Average class size ranges between 26 and 30. I was lucky enough to have 25 for two months one year! Our max is 32 before they have to pay us more.

I split an Academic Teaching Assistant with another teacher. I am supposed to get her half the time, but it never actually works out that way.

Those of you that have 13-20 students a year are killing me! I wish we had that few. It is a total pain trying to cram that many desks (especially with big 6th graders) in the little rooms that we have.

I teach first grade.

I am inclusion (all students in first with IEP's come into my classroom), so I usually don't have more than 16.

I have a part-time inclusion aide, and a learning aide, each come for about 40 minutes each day (at different times).

Actually going back to teaching after a 9 yr hiatus from teaching in the classroom (eek!) I'll have 20 kids in a 4-5 split in Hawai'i. No assistant.

When I was teaching *way back when* I taught K, 20 kids (it was the max allowed by the district for K), full time assistant in NM.

What state do you teach in?

Maryland

What grade do you teach?
This year I'm teaching third grade, yay!!! I've previously taught first and second grades. I love the primary grades!

What is you average class size?
Usually between 18-22. Last year there were only two of us teaching second grade and we had about 30 kids in each of our classes! Midway through the year we did get another teacher, so my class size was reduced to around 17.

Do you have a full-time assistant/aide/para or a part-time assistant( tell how long you have the person on a daily basis)?
No. Last year there was an elderly woman who volunteered to help in my room during my reading block, but she only came whenever she wanted, which was like twice a month. She was helpful when she actually did show up, though!
