Hi! Last year I printed out someone's September plans for RW. It is called "Readers Build Good Habits." I can only find pieces of it and would love to print it out again. Does anyone have this or no where I can find it?
Thanks =)
Would we happen to know if anything further than September got posted by TeacherDani? I used these plans for Sept and it's fabulous but I need to go on (still need help!) and would love to see Oct & Nov or more! ANyone????
do you have any other plans done through oct/nov, etc? Just curious. I like how yours are written because they are the same format as your writting lessons which I love!!!! Just curious.
They very closely follow units of study outlined in the book Growing Readers by Kathy Collins - if you are a primary grade teacher, I really recommend it!
These plans look great! I teach 2nd. This is my first time teaching RW. Would you use these same lessons for 2nd graders? No one in my school except me, is doing RW. So I am wondering if it would be fine to just use these plans. I am finding that I need to have something to follow until I get a better feel for what I am doing and what my students need.
I would check BookMuncher's blog "Once Upon a Reader's Workshop"...she posted her units of study for the year in once of her blogs back in July or August and she teaches second grade.
Miss Anderson once again your lessons will be used in my classroom! You have such a skill at writing wonderful easy to use lessons.
Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you so much for all of these resources. You have saved me time and energy that I can put into differentiating the lessons for my kids. I really appreciate the support!!!
Thanks for sharing! What grade level are these for? I will be teaching 3rd grade and I'm not sure all of the mini lessons would be appropriate for third graders. Just curious.
These are for first. I'm thinking that you would probably just into comprehension strategies a lot sooner in third. We spend several months on decoding.
I am a second grade teacher and we are trying to develop a unit on partnerships. Has anyone done this as a unit before and can help by giving us some sort of direction?
I also just wanted to thank everyone for being so generous and sharing their lessons.
Thank you so much for sharing. Does any one have plans for Readers Think and Talk About the Characters in their books? This is our next unit and my
plans are piece meal.
Your lessons are AMAZING. I am a first year teacher and struggling to read through Growing Readers and pull out the important information and lesson layouts. When I found your post, I was relieved and felt so much more supported. You shared everything that I have been putting together this year. I appreciate your posts, and generosity. I was wondering if you have plans for the rest of the year? I don't mean to be greedy, but your outlines have been so much help!
Thank you for posting your units of study, they have been very helpful! Would you happen to have your units from January on? If so...I am extremely interested in looking at them! Also... Miss Anderson, you speak about and have posted TeacherDani's plans...do you know when she posted them or if she has units from January on...or how did you get them? I can't find her on here! Thanks again for all the help! Hope you are having a great school year!
I'm a veteran teacher trying to stay on top of things. Your readers wksp units are for younger grades. How can I find the units for upper grades (grade 4)? Been trying to find them. Help is appreciated

Thanks for sharing your plans. I teach 4th grade and have been looking for something like this. Would you have more that you are willing to share? Also, would you recommend the book Guiding Readers and Writers?
Nope, I don't make detailed unit plans beyond September. Once October comes around, I start planning for RW using "month-at-a-glance" grids that wouldn't mean much to anyone but me.
Yes, I highly recommend Guiding Readers and Writers. It's expensive and a bit overwhelming, but very good.
HI- I am hoping to start RW this fall. Im planning my first unit of study and was trying to open this post to compare. if possible could you please send me the units. thanks
I just wanted to let you know that your plans are AMAZING!!!
Your students are so lucky to have an amazing reading teacher.
By the way, when you refer to a page in G.R.....is that a book/resource?
Can you please provide the title.
Thanks!
Hi! Last year I printed out your plans for RW. I can only find pieces of it and would love to print it out again. Do you still have the plans for January - May? You did such an amazing job.
I just want to say thank you for sharing all the wonderful work that you've all done! I'm getting ready for next year and all your resources will come in handy!
Where do you buy the Unit of study for Kindergarten for Reader's Workshop. I have Writer's workshop, but the only units I found were for 3-5th grade only.
Thanks
I am wondering if anyone has mini-lessons for Readers Workshop 5th grade. Miss Anderson has so many great ideas for 1st grade I was just wondering if anyone has anything for 5th?? Thanks for any tips, links or ideas!!
I have just come upon your lessons for Growing Readers. I was reading this book the other night to set up some lessons for my own first grade. I came upon yours by accident. They are wonderful and so well done. I shared them with my first grade team and want to send you a great big Thank You. We are somewhat new to this and appreciate what you have done. Will you be sharing lessons for the remaining chapters? Once again, Thank You. Pat
Hi,
These mini lessons are great for elementary school. I am looking for lessons for Sixth grade. Does anyone have any? Middle School Reader's Workshop ideas are very hard to find!
poobear4414- I am doing sixth grade and looking for the same thing. Would you want to work together on planning for reader's workshop. Let me know if you would
I am also teaching 6th grade reading for the first time and I would love to work on some beginning of the year plans too for launching reader's workshop.
These plans are really great! I am new to first grade general ed after being in a multi-age special ed class for a few years. I was so nervous about how to begin my RW but these plans are immensely helpful. Thank you!
I am new to 3rd grade this year. I have taught 5 years of Kindergarten and 1 year in 1st. I feel really behind what this age group needs. Does anyone have any plans that could help me get started in Readers and Writers workshop for 3rd grade beginning of the year? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!!!
