I really like the Step Up to Writing program for Writing. The expository side has colors which help struggling learners as well as English Language Learners. They use a stop sign type of approach with green being a topic sentence, yellow details, red examples and a green followup conclusion. They also have lots of worksheet organizers and ways to go at it in their program including folding paper into accordian folds. For creative writing, they have a graphic organizer for beginning, middle and end. We also use a quick sketch approach in which we first draw out our story beginning, middle and end. We have Houghton Mifflin Reading program and their website
has benchmark writing papers including low to high to show students. We are in CA.
Hope this helps.
