Polar Express activities needed

There are 3 second grade teachers in our wing, and we would like to transform our hallway into the "Polar Express" for a day. We are envisioning having the kids visit our rooms as station stops, and have some parent volunteers to help out. The kids will have tickets that get stamped for each activity. In one room, the kids will listen to the story. In another room, they will make an ornament. We will have a computer station for the kids to explore the north pole web site, and we are looking for more ideas. We would like some simple and inexpensive crafts to make at the other stations. What are some things you do with this book?

A friend emailed me today with an idea. Buy enough jingle bells for each child to have one, put them in the freezer for a little while, and have the principal or someone else make a "delivery" to the kids and pass them out. They will still be cold since they are from the "North Pole." Of course, don't forget to serve hot chocolate during one of the stops.

We did this one year where each teacher picked a different state we would travel through and do something from that state. If you google polar express, you will find more ideas than you could possibly use. Still working on our plans now.

There is a website devoted to this. You can print tickets to give to the kids. Our kids wore their PJs and we served hot cocoa. We were also able to watch the movie. The kids loved it.
