from last year. I change it to match the yearly theme. However, I am leaning towards eliminating this part of my behavior plan... I want to steer away from tangible rewards for common behavior and work towards understanding the tenants of character and caring. Is that pie in the sky?

Children DEsign it

Why not have the children design it? They can come up with ammounts and even use it as an economics thing in your room? You are taking away the "reward" part of it and placing a value to it.

I have Jungle Bucks as my classroom money. They come in $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 dollar amounts. Each amount is printed on a different color paper. I store them in an index card box.

I have attached the $1 bills. To change them...
Right click on the black line around the edge of the Jungle Buck.
Click on "grouping"
Click on "ungroup"
This should allow you change the text and delete any pictures.

Questions about Jungle Bucks

BamaGirl,
Your Jungle Bucks look great! Just a few questions for you, if you don't mind.
Did you create those in Word? Where did you find your clipart? Are you going to print them out in color? Are you going to print them out on card stock and laminate them for durability?
Thanks for sharing with us! I'll be creating some kind of classroom money to go w/ my travel theme, but just haven't came up w/ a name yet.

Here are some answers to your questions:
  • Yes, I did create them in Word.
  • I found most of my clipart by doing a search on the Internet. Go to www.google.com. Click on "images." Then enter a search.
  • No, I did not print them out in color...most of the clipart I found was just in color. That would eat up a ton of ink cartridges and be very expensive! I selected to print them in "grayscale" or "black and white only."
  • I copied each amount of money on different colored paper ($1s are purple, $5s are yellow, $10s are blue, etc.). I laminated them for durability. This year will be my 2nd year to use this particular set of bills, and they still look in very good shape!
Please let me know if you have any other questions!

How do your student's "redeem" their money?
Like do they buy prizes? If so, are they for different amounts? What do the large amounts buy?
Do you make them pay for negative behavior?
thanks

I loved this!!! I have a "Stick Store" in my First Grade Classroom. This will work perfect. Instead of my students saving sticks they can now save their Jungle Bucks. Thank you for sharing!
