Thanks for the game idea-the class loves it! Did you create that game, or find it somewhere? I'm wondering if there are more!

Thanks Christina4062! I teach first grade. My students sit at tables, I'll just place an index card where each one sits. I will try the game when we return from winter break. I am always looking for fun ways to reinforce skills. Got any more. Keep 'em coming! Thanks again! I'll share some too!

Sounds like a great game. I have 4 grade 1's and 16 2's... we'll practice a few times first.

So you have a question at each desk with the number at the top?

Each Desk Has A Number

I printed and laminated numbers just to use with this activity. I've also used sticky notes for the desk numbers. For math, I put a flash card on each desk (math facts, money, fractions, etc.), depending on the skill I want to practice. You can also make up questions for any other subject.

I agree- GREAT game! I ended up making my own sheet based on Christina's so that I had the right number of boxes. The kids have a lot of fun with it!

Is there a way to convert a Word document to PDF without purchasing Adobe Acrobat? The Standard version is $99.00!

Yeah! Download cutepdf It's free and easy. Then to convert, you simply print it to cutepdf then it will save. This is how we do everything at school to post on our edline pages so that parents can't alter them.

to find it, simply just do a google search for cutepdf.

musical chairs

We play this game all the time! My kids love it. I call it "Musical Chairs," and play music in the background. When the music stops, the kids scoot to the next desk. If they finish before the music stops, they can dance near the desk they are working at.

I've used it with all subjects. Sometimes I simply copy the boring workbook pages we are required to do, cut them into strips and put one strip on each desk. All of a sudden, it's fun!

The best tip I've found for helping kids know which desk to go to next is to pay attention to the classmate they are "following."

Thanks so much for converting that for me! like it!

My AP told me about something very similar that she would do at the end of the year as a time filler. she would make up 5 or 6 cards more than there were students. Students could go to any open card they wanted to, but had to answer the question in the correct space. If they didn't have enough time, then they could go back at the end to complete it. That gave students some choice about the order they went in but also required them to complete them while differentiating for those that needed more time.

I like how you have planned for them to move sequentially around the circle. It really seems to help the flow of things.

I will definately try this next month on our collaborative planning 1/2 day. Great way to review skills and not have to worry about who's absent while teaching a new lesson!

Thanks, again!

BUMP!

I read about it on another post. They really love this game. I didn't think about cutting up a worksheet. What a wonderful idea. I am going to have to try that.

I just played this game today, since we have just finished the chapter on regrouping in Math and mys students loved it. It was a great game to play at the end of the day especially during these winter months when they can't get out because the weather is too cold. I will definitely use it again for our chapter on borrowing. Thanks for the great idea.
