Anyone have resources for this book? I thought it would be a good book to read because the movie is coming out soon.

I noticed that this novel is being made into a movie (saw the preview). It looks like it's made by the same folks that brought us Hoot and Narnia and Winn Dixie. If it is, the film makers seem committed to tying the movie to school curriculum and provide a lot of activities at their website.

They have a literature guide, and theirs is always good. They have vocabulary, quizzes, questions, activities, etc... Here's the website:

We're doing that book in our class, too!

This is the company that did the above mentioned movies (and is doing Fried Worms and Charlotte's Web). They always have stuff on their website. Also, if you register, they always do an 'educator preview' of their movies, and send out notices so you can register for a free ticket in your area. A friend and I saw Hoot and Because of Winn Dixie before they opened in theaters..

their website is http://www.walden.com/web/teach/home

Well,
I absolutely LOVED How to Eat Fried Worms. Unfortunately, after seeing the previews for the movie, it doesn't look like it matches the book at all!!

In the book the 2 are friends, but not in the movie. It should be interesting to say the least!!

One year after I read this book aloud to my class I made "fried worms" for them to eat. Take the small, long, skinny Tootsie Rolls and roll them into longer worm shapes. Then roll each worm in brown sugar. I had the kids stand in a circle. I passed out one worm to each child. On my signal they were to eat their worm, but NO talking was aloud (to prevent giving away the secret). They could make facial expressions or noises of disgust or pleasure. The looks on their faces were PRICELESS! Eventually we got almost everyone to try their worm. Finally I told the last 2 holdouts what it really was and then they ate theirs.

Thanks for all of the resources and activities! This is such a fun book to read, but I don't know if I can handle the movie and watching kids eat worms. I had to turn my head during the previews~yuck!
