Gift ideas for Eagle Scout?

Do you give a gift if you are invited to an Eagle Scout ceremony? Or, if you are the proud parent of an Eagle, what type of gifts did your son get? We have been involved in scouts for many years and long ago I do remember going to a ceremony and giving a nice card with $25 in it. I never knew what is appropriate and I am certain there is a very wide range of gifts to no gifts depending on the relationship. My DH has been Scoutmaster for many years and since that one ceremony, we started ordering a flag to be flown over the Capital Building and have given that to many Eagles. With another one coming up, someone just asked me what the norm is, and again, I really don't know. Suggestions?

When my son made Eagle Scout he had things from cards to gifts. Some money, others items with the Eagle Scout emblem on it. I guess it just depends.

Something lasting

Kids always love receiving money, but maybe something lasting would be nice. How about a brass pocket compass engraved with their initials and date of Eagle Scout ceremony.

He got $$ and gifts with the Eagle emblem on it. The flag idea is a very special one.

Eagle Scouts

Both of my sons are Eagle Scouts. You can buy cards at Hallmark. Money is a good choice. Do you have a scout office in your town (Boy Scouts Of America)? If you do, they often have gifts to purchase. My sons got mugs, etc. with the emblem on it.

and I am sure they may have some good ideas but since you never know who else is buying what, I think we both are leaning towards money. Thanks for all of your help!
