Should I include student work samples in my professional portfolio?

Thanks

Student work samples were highly recommended in my portfolio that I completed for college and when I was interviewing for the job that I recently got, they were impressed to see my portfolio...samples make it seem like you are going the extra mile in my mind. Just be sure to black out the students name!

I agree. You can even include multiples of the same work item from different students to show how you might've differentiated instruction and assessment to meet the needs of your students.

I even take pictures of activities my students do, print them out, and place them in my portfolio. I had an activity I did with boxes of dirt, where kids had to create a trench system like the soldiers used in WWI. There wasn't any other way to preserve these products except pictures.

When I showed that lesson plan and the photos to my current principal during my interview, he was very impressed.

The more real-life information you can put in the portfolios, the better!
