Help! Need to dress like a book character

For reading week, we have to dress like a book character. Does anyone have any ideas or has anyone ever had to do this before??

I did this in March, and went as "Lilly" from the Kevin Henkes series. You need a purple dress, red boots, and a purple purse. (maybe ears & whiskers if you want to do more!).

You could also go as Irene from Brave Irene... really easy with just a warm jacket (of course, it might get a little too hot, though!)

from the Magic School Bus is a cute one! Just pick some theme and stitch a bunch of those items to your clothes.

like Amelia Bedelia. It was fun. Black dress, hose, and shoes, apron, and a bonnet.

Our school did this a couple of months ago and there were some awesome costumes! I went as Pinkalicious and a colleague went as Purplicious...pretty easy to do if you've got a lot of those colors in your wardrobe. Some other teachers went as the three blind mice--they just wore grey/black sweats and put on sunglasses, ears, and tales. We also had a lot of Dr. Suess characters. Our principal wore overalls and went as Farmer Brown from the Click Clack Moo Series...the related arts team dressed as Harry Potter characters...One of my favorite costumes was the old lady from There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly. The teacher put on a wig, a huge dress, stuffed her belly, and pinned felt characters from the story to the front of her dress If I think of any of the other good ones, I'll post them too! Have fun!

Little Red Riding Hood? Alice in Wonderland? Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz?

Get a group of teachers together to do something fun - our team did the 5 Little Monkeys one year, other teachers paired up and came as Green Eggs and Ham Miss Viola Swamp and Miss Nelson?

This can turn into a very cute costume. Use brown craft paper for the dress and a crown.

I Know An Old Lady...

When I was pregnant with my twins, I dressed up as the Old Lady that swallowed a fly. I painted my black graduation gown with bright colors. Wore the thick round Harry Potter glasses, a straw hat, and a plaid shaw. I pinned stuffed animals to my stomach so that it looked like I swallowed them. And being pregnant really was an extra bonus. It was a hit!

I dressed as Viola Swamp in a black wig, black cloak and dress......red lipstick and black eyebrows and scowl lines....Another teacher dressed as Miss Nelson in a pretty pastel dress, blonde wig and paper airplanes bobby pinned in her hair. It was hilarious!

One of our teachers came dressed as Junie B. Jones....it was great!

She wore a long sweater with a nametag stuck on it that said Junie B.. She had dark frame glasses just like Junie wears. Then she put a big bow in her hair. There was no mistaking who she was and she looked adorable!

I dressed as the witch from Heckedy Peg, just a black witch hat, blackened tooth and black cloth over black top and black pants.

Mr. Scary

We read Junie B. Jones in our classroom and I dress like Mr. Scary for Halloween. It's easy. Just wear clothes that look like a men's suit, clip your hair back and use eyeliner for a beard. Then I put a name tag on and it works great.
