Punch Card Template or Design?
Old 06-17-2009, 08:42 PM

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I'm wanting to do a punch card incentive for my students next year for their work station time. I figured I could easily make one, but after an hour of messing around, I have nothing! >

Does anyone have punch card template they wouldn't mind sharing?

Thanks!!!

Here is something I used this year. I used it for Accelerated Reader. I hope this will help. I do remember it taking me a while to create, so if you change it for the better, please repost it!

Have you thought about making some postcard or calling card size at Vista Print?

Here is the same one posted above, but in a PDF file. This one keeps the fonts the same as what I had them when I made it.

... in case you want to make any changes on your own. The fonts may be a bit off if you don't have the same fonts I used loaded on your own computer.

How does everyone use them? How often do they go to the treasure box per month? Does this work for you?

I used my punch card for homework. If student return his/her homework, he/she would get a punch. In the morning, students would place homework and the punch card on their desk. I walked around, glanced at homework and would punch the cards. When a student filled up a card, he/she would pick from the treasure box. The district I worked in had required math homework each night. If a student returned all the homework he/she picked for the treasure box about every 2 weeks. This worked well for the students and me.

These are great! I am looping with my 5th graders and I hope using these will keep a certain young man from sliding down under his desk during morning homework checks.

conolley, I also appreciate you posting a word version!

Punch Card

I'm going to use mine as an added accountability factor during our work station time. I typed out new rules for this time that go along with our schoolwide PRIDE expectations (preparation, respect, integrity, discipline, and excellence) and what each of those things mean during work station time. When the kids complete their "must do" task and show they are following the rules, I will give them a punch at the end of our work station time. When they get 20 punches on their card they'll get to choose something out of the prize box.

Thank you, all! I use a "homework" card with my class each month. Your ideas are great. Our school has a "STAR" theme with its school wide discipline program, so that one I know I'll use.

Thanks, first to conolley for starting this thread, and to all the others who contributed to it! Nice to read how each of you plan to use these.

Having read your ideas, you got me thinking that I might revise the way I keep track of, and motivate students to complete their homework.
