Classroom newsletters

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Hi everyone-

This year I really want to do a weekly newsletter. I have always sent home letters when needed and have a web site, but I think I want to still do a weekly letter. Someone recently posted that they did one and had a behavior indicator at the bottom. I really don't need more work, but I want better communications. Does anyone have an easy template for a newsletter that I could download?

I have been sending home a weekly newsletter each week for the past 3 years. If you email me, I will send you a couple of examples. They are in Microsoft Word and are one page (front only). I include a short description of what the class will be learning in each subject that week, any class announcements or news, and a small section for reminders. I send it home each Monday. The parents have been very appreciative of the information and frequently comment on how much they like the newsletter. My email is kashlock99@sbcglobal.net

Hi there!

In the past I have downloaded the templates from Kelly's Kindergarten. I think she has two different styles for every month and the cool thing is that you can type directly onto the template. So...it makes less work for you! Plus....the come out looking really nice! Good luck...here is the website.

Our school requires a weekly letter home. Some teachers use templates. I just write! My first year was tough to come up with a whole page but now, it takes me maybe 20 minutes. I open the letter from the same week the previous year, and the one from the week prior, and a lot of things I can just cut and paste. This gives me a good gauge of how quickly (or slowly) I'm moving and reminds me to let parents know about upcoming projects, needed supplies, etc.

We get to pick which day the letter goes home. I'm the only teacher that does Tuesday, I think. Tuesday is the most logical in my opinion. It's not crazy Monday or Friday mornings and it's done being written Monday after school, sometimes Tuesday before school. Then it's done for the week!

We recently had to change from Appleworks to Microsoft. I found some templates on Microsoft publisher. The are easy to use. I will tell the parents at curriculum night that we may be changing/updating them as the year goes on.

I was hoping you could send me an attachment of a sample newsletter you have used in the past. I tried to email you with the address you gave but for some reason it wouldn't let me send it. My email is rigney_carrie@yahoo.com. I would REALLY appreciate it! Thanks!
