Great elementary grant ideas?

I have the opportunity to write a grant for up to $500. What's something that would be really great to write the grant for??? I won one when I did an after-school book club with 4th/5th grade below-level ELL students... And then didn't win when I wrote one for literacy bags.

Any great ideas? I teach 1st.

I am a remedial reading teacher and I have been looking into grants to help my kids. I found one that would benefit student reading progress and would work towards a guided leveled reading library! I am very excited about this!

Versatiles are great. They are available by grade level and subject. My kids love them.

I wrote a grant one year for 2nd grade for writing their own book - I got them through Student Treasures. We then had an author's tea when the books came back.

Last year I did a grant for bugs. I got 5 types of bugs - caterpillars (butterflies), ants, ladybugs, beetles, and praying mantis. The kits had habitats, I ordered other things to go with teaching about them. Some bugs were great and some were a bust. But the kids enjoyed it.

This year I wrote one for electricity and magnetism. I haven't heard yet and this one is for 2 grade levels with activities for those grades.

Educational games

One of our Kdgn. teachers just wrote a grant to purchase educational board games. She is going to have the students play the games, invite the parents in to play with them, and then send them home with the kids to keep. We have a poor population, and many of the children have no board games at home.

The grant that I am applying for is one specifically for my district. I know that donorschoose.org and some other organizations have ones you can write proposals for as well!
