A student goody bag was posted by Debbie for Open House. I would love the Parent version. Any other ideas for the all school Open House would be great also.

On the first day last year I gave my students a goody bag at the end of the day, along with a little poem. Each line explained each item in the bag. There was an eraser, lifesavers, sticker, etc. I moved rooms this year and many of my files are missing. Does anyone have a similar poem or idea? Any help/ideas would be great! Thanks ahead of time!

it sounds like a great idea. I usually have a packet of info for the parents either at open house or back to school night. I hadn't thought of providing the parents with a goodie bag. I'll be watching for all of the great proteacher ideas. Thanks for asking.

Goodie Bag Poem

Here is the poem I use. it sounds like what you had.

Here are a few items to help you throughout the year. Read carefully because each item has a special meaning!
A Rubberband - So you can be flexible. Things may not always go the way you want, but it can be worked out.
A Band-Aid - To remind you to heal hurt feelings, either yours or a friend's.
An eraser - To remind you that everyone makes mistakes. That's okay, we learn by our errors.
A Candy Kiss - Everyone needs a hug or compliment everyday.
A Sticker - Stick with it and you can accomplish anything.
A Pencil - To remind you to do your homework.
A Bookmark - So you never loose your spot.
A Starburst - Remember to shine and always try your best.
A Penny - You are valuable and special.
Smarties - You are one smart student.
A Lifesaver - Remember you can come to me anytime if you need someone to talk to or for help.
