I'm getting ready to being a unit on Freckle Juice. Just curious on some extension activities you do with your class when reading this book. . .I have a couple of writing activities, but I would love to hear about some comprehension sheets or a website that has some more ideas or better yet YOUR ideas! Thanks a million!

Freckle juice

I made up my own vocab and comprehension worksheets when I used to teach it. We also made up our own Freckle Juice. They made their own concoction at home and brought it to school in a bottle with a TIGHT lid! They could only use food ingredients. Then they wrote the recipe to go along with it. Then on Freckle Juice Day they brought it to school and we voted for the smelliest, the worst looking, best smelling, etc. But we didn't taste them! On that day I painted blue freckles on their faces with blue tempera, but first put cold cream on their cheeks so that the paint would come off easier. We also played a Freckle Juice game. They drew their face on a paper plate and then they each put 10 blue paper freckles on the plate. Then they drew from a deck of homemade cards that said, "one freckle, two freckles, or three freckles." They could remove that many freckles from their face. The first one to get rid of the freckles was the winner, but you had to draw the exact number of freckles to get rid of the last ones! Hope these give you some ideas. That is a fun story to read!

Love the paper plate/card game! I might use that one but just use dice instead. Anyway, I have ideas in my room at school but the one I like involves money. Sharon sold the recipe for 50 cents so I made a chart and the kids had to show me as many ways as they could to make 50 cents. I believe if you Google in Freckle Juice you'll come upon some ideas. Have fun!

I, too, like this idea. Just wondering about the game, though... do you play as a whole group or small group? I have 20 kids and am wondering how the drawing cards (or tossing dice) would work as a whole group. thanks!

We played in groups of 3-4. Each group had a card deck.
