Panda theme

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I went to the school box store yesterday and they had a new really cute panda themed bulletin board display and I would love to go with that theme for my classroom, but I am having a hard time thinking of ideas for it. I think it would be really cute but I can't think of any catchy sayings for student of the week, word wall, classroom jobs, etc. I have thought of a few cute decorations I could use, but I am just having a difficult time with some phrases. Could someone help me out with some phrases and also if you have any cute suggestions for decorations please give them!

student of the week:
Person
As
Noted
Deserves
Attention!
word wall:
"Bamboozled! What are these Words?"
Pandas eat bamboo shoots!
jobs:
Zoo keeper, Zoologist
Conservationist, Ecologist (since the Giant Panda is endangered, maybe you could use this as a focus for job titles? It would certainly be relevant for science.)

As far as decor, I'm thinking of course black and white, but also red accents-you could incorporate a Chinese element. Red is recognized as a color of fortune. Use chinese characters with the English word also...might work for your word wall as well. Maybe you could find some faux silk to drape around the room to add some texture. The cultural aspects would be great for social studies.
Your reading area could possibly have a zoo theme-in addition to pandas, you could also have other zoo reading buddies (stuffed animals).
You could use black & white dominoes to decorate a math area...

"Learning is not all Black and White" could be a heading for a panda display...
Good luck!

Yes, I agree with the previous poster on going with a chinese accent to the panda theme! I love putting chinese characters with the english words. You could also teach each child a little chinese. Such as Ni Hao (pronounced Nee How) for hello and xiexie (pronounced sheer sheer) for thanks. You could have a classroom rules chart labeled No Panda-monium or Things we do to avoid panda-monium. You can find bamboo and bamboo leaves for deco at one of my favorite places, oriental trading.

is this the BB set you purchased?

http://shop.scholastic.com/webapp/wc...-1_10001_10002

http://www.cutecolors.com/ go to free web sets-she has pandas

it is very cute and what a cute idea-this is something no one has really done yet

Don't forget about the book Panda Bear, Panda Bear What Do You See? of course depending on your grade level

you can get a stuffed panda as your class mascot

I'm still thinking of ideas for the job board, student of the week etc.

I bought the Welcome Panda sign for my classroom too!!! Too cute! I wish they'd come out with a koala one too.
