We're using hot glue. It's holding on my walls where other things aren't. Everyday half of my calendar is on the floor because it's up with sticky tac.

mounting tape

I use mounting tape. It's sticky on both sides with white foamy stuff in between. At WalMart they carry it where they have the picture hanging stuff. Very little of anything I've ever hung on my walls (plaster and cement) has come off.

I have cinder block walls and find that laminated materials stay up better than those that are not. I use a good brand wide clear packing tape such as SCotch brand- and lots of it!

Hot glue or sticky tack

I agree hot glue will work well - just test it in one section first - but usually hot glue is easy to peel off once it is cool.

And for sticky tack - only use the blue type - the others do not work well even on flat surfaces.

Rubber cement. I have a magnetized wall ouside my room and every summer the janitor cleans it with Murphy's oil soap. Nothing will stick plus the humidity doesn't help either. everything fell off. I got out the rubber cement and slapped that on. SooooI assume it would hold on the cinder block too. ????

Awesome tape

At our local teacher store I got some tape called Mauvelous tape. It looks a lot like masking tape, but it sticks a LOT better. In a lot of the new schools, that is all they are allowed to use. It doesn't work too well, however, if the walls are freshly painted.

Caulking gun

For 19 years I taught on the Gulf Coast of Texas and I got tired of things falling off the walls! I bought a caulking gun (get you a tube of clear silicone) and smeared it all over the back and stuck it on cinder block walls. When I moved I just left the stuff on the wall for the new teacher in my room.

Hot Glue

I also use hot glue. Cinder block walls are the worst for trying to hang things on. Be careful though, the high temp hot-glue will sometimes take the paint off the walls when you remove it, so I suggest using a low temp gun.

OK guys...I just left the building and someone told me that the janitor cleaned our walls with something so the tape wont stick on purpose. I've tried stikki tape, duck tape, packing tape and stikki wax. I've have given up. Do you really put hot glue on the walls? i think that I am so desperate that I'm going to try that tomorrow. Thanks for all your input!!!!!!
