Do you tip the Schwan's Delivery Person?

I've never ordered from them until someone posted about the free $10 offer. My food will be coming on Monday. DH says, no because they are independently owned. For those of you who receive Schwan's deliveries, what do you do?

I wondered the same thing too, so I went to their website and it said they cannot accept tips.

Should I tip my Schwan's representative?

A simple "thank you" is always appreciated. Your continuing business with Schwan's also tells us that you appreciate us. Your Schwan's representative does not accept monetary tips.

I didn't want the delivery person to think I was rude if I didn't tip him/her!

I was going to order but I couldn't find out if they charged shipping or delivery charges. Does anyone know?

They charge $1 delivery fee. I'm waiting for ours to come right now (with my $10.00 of free food!). We used to have them come years ago and I always offered them a cold drink before they left. One night he came during dinner and I offered him a burger -- which he was thrilled about.

We got our free food Tuesday! I like the whole food delivery thing. Too bad it is so freakin' expensive or I would be using it all the time so I don't have to go grocery shopping.

My hubby worked for Schwan's 15 yrs. ago. They get paid on commission so the more you buy, the more they make! That is how you "tip"! My DH did appreciate the kind families who gave him tins of cookies or fudge at Christmas or offered a Coke in the summer, something like that! And, as a PP said, they can't accept tips!

OMG! My Schwans guy lives two doors down from me. When he first introduced himself, he told me they make most of their money from tips. If what you read is true, he LIED to me. I cannot believe it. I never tipped him because their food is soooo expensive, but now I don't feel guilty about it. Ugh, what a jerk.

Okay, girls, I have to retract a statement I made. DH tells me a few people did tip him, and that he was allowed to receive tips. He did not have many who did, but they were allowed. However, the commission info. was correct. They also make "bonuses" by selling a certain number of specific products being highlighted that month.

If I were the Schwan guy, I have to be happy that you're going to be new on my route. Do you think you'll keep ordering after tomorrow? If so, that will make him most happy that he can count on an extra person on the route and the future commissions he'll get from your orders. I also think if you order something extra while he is there, he would appreciate that as much as a tip. If you really think you need to tip, I'd say $2.

I've never tipped before, I didn't realize it was a tipping kind of thing... lol

Off-topic, but I got my free $10 order today and the Schwan's man said we had to purchase something else. I don't ever remember the offer saying anything like that, but whatever, I got a ready-meal thing.

He came by and dropped it off and gave me a catalog. Also said he would be back in 2 weeks to see if I wanted anything else. He was really nice. Didn't try to talk me into anything else and had no hidden fees. I think I will order atleast one more time just because I feel like I got something free and should buy something.

There is a delivery charge

You pay for it in their way over priced products. Their prices are ridiculous.. I'd rather just pay a delivery fee and order delivery from Albertsons. They also don't offer cosmetics of any kind, and their selection is absolute crap.

I just received my $10 Free order, and he was VERY nice, gave me a catalog, said he'd be back in the area in two weeks, and would not accept any money for tip when I offered, he said it was free delivery.

tips are allowed but usually your schwans man/woman is happy with the idea that you at least but a few things every 2 weeks that he comes. My driver always shows me new items and items currently on sale. I try not to no sale him.
