I am looking for pen pals for my specials education classroom. I currently have about 9 students ranging from 2nd grade- 6th grade. All at about a 1st or 2nd grade reading level, some slightly higher. I would like to find a classroom where the students could exchange letters, learn about each other, and practice their reading and writing skills! Please let me know if you are interested, so we may exchange information!
I came across your post will rearching the web for lesson plans. I homeschool six children with special needs. Our 12 year old special needs child would really love to be a pen pal to another six grade student. He is at the reading/ writing level of 2nd grade. If you would consider a homeschooled student please email email@example.com
What state are you in? We are in Iowa.
I teach Special Education in a Center-based facility. My students have a dual diagnosis- emotional support/MR. Their writing skills are very low, but I have been looking for ways for them to be motivated to improve their skills. We would love to have a pen pal(s). I have 6 students ranging in ages from 13-20.
Lynne, I teach a high school class class for students with moderate intellectual disabilities. I have 7 students and their ages range from 16-21. Their reading levels are low about 1st grade but their writing/copying is legible. They also have fairly good thought processing. Have you found penpals? Would you be interested in working with my class? I did this last year and it worked really well. If you think this would be a good match email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I am also looking for penpals for my special ed class. I have 9 students ages 16-21 with 1st-3rd grade reading/writing skills. We are located in Florida and I would like to not only exchange letters but some local items(such as post cards, shells, etc) as well.
I am looking for pen pals for my special ed class. I currently have 10 students ranging from 16-21. They are about 1st to 2nd grade reading level. We are located in Mississippi. If anyone is interested, please let me know so we can work out the details.
I also am looking for pen pals for my students who are learning how to do e-mail in a career's class in Madison, Wi.The students are 15-18 with 5th grade reading level but probably 3rd grade writing level. Anyone interested????
Hi, We are waving at you from southern WI, near the border of Ill.
I have a big group this year, around 24-26. They are all 4th and 5th graders. Most of the kids have a diagnosis of LD, but they have other, varied disabilies as well. My students could use the practice writing friendly letters. I could split the group up if it was too many for the corresponding school. Please post here if you are interested.

In the classroom that I am in all 5 of the students struggle with writting and some struggle with reading. There is one hard of hearing student. I would love to be able to get them pen pals to practice their skills that go through the school so it is a secure environment.
I am a student at Umaine Farmington with an early childhood special education major and I would love to be pen-pals with a student of any age with a disablity. I love working with kids! I know that most students want pen-pals thier own age but if a student wants an older friend (someone who knows something about thier disablity as well) I would love to help out. I
I am thinking of starting a penpal group with my middle school students who are in a life skills program. I only have them 2X per week for 45 minutes but I think it would be nice for them to have this experience. My kiddos are only 12-14 tho, probably functioning around 3-4 grade academically. However, my biggest request here is how you got to do email as a life skill. I feel like the computer for these kids is essential but we still are working on all kinds of paper worksheets!! Basically the only computer that is offered to them is like word and making folders etc. I feel like they need to learn the actually keyboarding as this will be with them for their lives!! Please give me some words, programs whatever to try and convince my administration that this is a real and really big need. Thanks bunches! Stacey Camire OTR/L

Aloha Sarah. My name is Denny and I work with Tricia at Goodwill. While she is not a child, she read your description and selected you as the person she wanted to write to. If you would like to set up a penpal relationship with her and would like to exchange emails, you can also reach her at email@example.com - we monitor this address together daily. She is excited about hearing from you! However, I'm unsure whether what Tricia is trying to do is at odds with this website. If so, please accept my apologies.

I am trying to set up pen pals for some of my ERC kiddos. I have a range of 2nd-4th grade students I am looking to find pals for. Most of these students read and write at K to 2nd level. I am in Portland, Oregon. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I am not sure if anyone is still reading this as the posting are pretty old, but I am also looking for a penpal, specifically one with disabilities. I am a school psychology graduate student at UCF. I have been given the assignment of finding and communicating with someone who has a disability. This will help me to learn more about them and their disability. I have been having trouble finding a penpal so if anyone is interested please email me at email@example.com.
I saw your post seeking a classroom to be pen pals with your class. I teach in an inclusive environment in Washington D.C. My students reading and writing instructional level ranges from 1st grade to 3rd grade. Please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, if you are interested.

yes, I would like my classes to have a pen pal. Some of them have never received a real snail mail letter. Since I teach 6,7 and 8th graders most of them are on 3rd to 6th grade level. It would be very nice to have a pen pal assignment set up for them.
Thank you for your response.
