Does anyone have any ideas to teach with Paul Bunyan? First Grade?

There is a cute little cartoon about Paul Bunyan on United Streaming. Also, I found a Paul Bunyan mini-book on the new Scholastic minibooks site-it costs money to subscribe but I went ahead and did it as my one educational subscription for this year. I think there was also a free resource under printables at the Scholastic site. It included a poem about Paul Bunyan that I shortened and used for our weekly focus poetry.

This used to be held in Nelsonville, Ohio at Hocking College but was recently moved to another city. Many of our students went with their families and our upper grades even went there on a field trip. One of our teachers has a video that has Paul Bunyan, Johnny Appleseed, etc all on it and the kids loved watching it. We would do coloring sheets, make pancakes, and write about if we were Paul what we would do.

Bring in rope and tell the kids it is Paul's dental floss. Bring in a pitch fork and say it is Paul's dinner fork. Bring in a large flower pot and say it is Paul's drinking cup....
You get the idea. Oversized items.
