Hi,
When giving the MAZE at benchmark time are you supposed to give all three probes or just one? I can't seem to find the answer clearly on any of the documents. I interpret what I have read to be that I give ONE passage...but yet there are 3. HELP!!!

THANKS!!!

We're just getting started with this, but we've only given one. I think you are supposed to use the others for later probes. We have to give it again next 9 weeks.

Okay, I feel much better! So, the other 2 are for winter and spring, but they aren't labeled as such? THat is confusing especially since everything else is so clearly labeled. Also, we give the same reading passages for ORF, but different maze passages? huh..

I have soooooo much to learn!

Thanks everyone!

We use 3 probes for each benchmarking time and take the median score. Then, we only use 1 probe while progress monitoring.

When benchmarking:

Maze : one probe

Fluency: 3 probes - record the median score

You give the SAME 3 RCBM fluency probes (according to grade leve) for fall, winter and spring.
You give the SAME 1 MAZE probe (according to grade level)
fall, winter, and spring.

If you use different ones each time you will not see growth. Make sure you have 1-2-3...others are for progress monitoring...which is a whole new can of worms.

Doesn't sound right...

We used different probes for each benchmark. Otherwise, if you give them the same passages, they have had prior experience with them. The program has enough to use correctly leveled passages for both progress monitoring and benchmarking.

Thankfully, this year I am not required to do either of them.
