I strongly encourage my kids/parents to memorize the facts up to 12. I assign it as homework-work on -1 (12-1=11, 11-1=10 and reverse, 12-11=1)facts one week, -2 facts for another week, etc. I also encourage them to use the touch math method and review review. After doing "mad minute" several times per week, like it or not they have begun to memorize!

We use an awesome computer program called Fast Math by Scholastic. Our goal is to know 100 facts by the end of the school year. Right now my top three know 75 facts. They love to get on the computer and do Fast Math. It takes about five minutes per day to do and does all the reports for you.
