or other???? There are so many varieties out there. I've been told that we can't get our projectors mounted on the ceiling. We get to pick which type of interactive board we want, but I'm having a hard time choosing what to get. Can anyone give me some pros and cons on the model they have? Maybe that would help me choose.

I didn't have much of a choice as money was a huge factor!! I have the Mimio. I went with the wireless feature so there aren't any cable running down my board. It works great. I haven't had any problems until recently. I think the pen is going out due to kids slamming it on the board ~ as much as I tell them they don't need to bang it, they do. I need to check in to a replacement.

I am able to use Mimio files (.ink files) as well as files from Promethean Planet (I just had to download an additional program to read the files). So, I can use any of the interactive software and it's very easy to use.

I do understand that SmartBoards can be touchy with their callibration. If it's not a mounted SmartBoard, you may want to go with the Mimio. Yes, I have to callibrate it every morning, but that's because I shut my computer off at night. It's a quick process that holds all day long, even if I turn off the Mimio device. I've heard the SmartBoard that isn't mounted often has to be recallibrated during the day. Slight movements make it very tempermental. So, you want something mounted.

If you can use promethean files with your mimio, do you know if you can use the notebook (smartboard) files as well? Just curious.

I have heard you can use the smarboard notebook files as well. I have gone to the site and had to download something in order to open the files. I have found the way to do it; however, I have not used it in class yet. Honestly, I'm not sure I like the navigation of the notebook files from smartboard. I am still playing with it though, I may find I love it after I get used to it
