I need a semi-healthy snack that my kids can make during our Halloween centers on Friday. Does anyone have any good ideas?

Last year we made "Spooky Hands" out of popcorn and candy corn. You need to get the plastic gloves sold at food service supply stores. these are "baggy" and clear-not form fitting and opaque as are surgical type gloves. The child puts one candy corn at the tip of each finger as a fingernail and them fills up the rest of the hand with popcorn. Using the end of a spoon helped them push the candy corn down into the finger better, tie it off with a piece of orange or black yarn or twist tie and it's done! Very cute, quick, and inexpensive! You may even be able to get the gloves for free from your cafeteria or another food service establishement. I have a box, so enough for years of this craft! Have fun!

This year some stores have treat bags shaped like hands with a skeleton imprint. That's what I'm using. This project takes a long time which is exactly what I'm looking for! We have 45 min. after lunch before we start our activities.

We have soooo many allergies in my class, that we are just doing plain popcorn and cider.

I have gluten, dairy, peanuts and soy allergies in my room. I think we will fill the popcorn in a spooky bag, but I need to go get those... whatever is cheap!

At our local fall fair, held each September, one of the children's sections encourages children to create "creatures" out of fresh vegetables. What if the parents of your kids provided a variety of prepared fresh vegetables (even some of the more exotic kinds that kids don't usually try - I don't know where you are so I don't know what to suggest) and you could have a creepy creature creating contest. Then the kids could eat them afterwards?

My partner teacher and I are letting our kids make Spooky Spiders. They use string cheese, pulled apart, to make a spider web, a grape as the spider's body and pretzel sticks for the legs. Kinda healthy?!?! Have a fun celebration!

spider- Open up an Oreo and use licorice for legs. Use the mini baking M&M's for eyes.

witch's hat- Use a fudge striped cookie as the bottom of a hat and stick a Hershey's kiss on top with frosting.
