Does anyone have their students to bell work while they all are coming into class? Can you share your ideas for 5th grade Social Studies.

Sometimes I have MadGabs on the board that are history/social studies related and they have to figure out what they are. Mostly I use language arts work for bell work.

Here are some of my history MadGabs. (If you are unfamiliar with MadGabs, you say the words aloud over and over until they sound like something else)

Daily Geography

I think it's Great Source that has something called "Daily Oral Geography" or something like that.

I used to use it in 4th and 6th grade. My teaching partner is doing SS this year, so I don't have it.

My students always really liked it. They'd work cooperatively, we'd discuss questions of interest or that gave them difficulty. I put it into a workbook form using powerpoint one summer.
