Could someone help me out with the different reading levels. I know there is Lexile reading levels but I am hearing there is another name given to levels too. I am moving into grouping in reading and starting to look for books to read next year. Also, can I buy materials for the different levels from the Reading Lady?

We go by GRL or Guided Reading Level (these are letter levels) at our school. There are quite a few different companies that you can purchase leveled books through. Scholastic actually has a special webpage in which you can look books up by a variety of levels.

You may hear the Guided Reading Levels also referred to as Fountas and Pinnell levels. They were named after the ladies who came up with that leveling system. If you do a search, you will find some websites that offer a guide to show how different leveling systems correspond to one another.

Also, a lot of companies will give their comparative levels. For instance, if you level using Fountas and Pinnell, you can find its equivalent DRA level (Developmental Reading Assessment), also. This helps me a lot because we have a scholastic reading closet with leveled books but I do the DRA. Have fun leveling!
