Student Helpers

I have a great crew of students who are arriving early and wanting to help in the classroom. I LOVE this, because as we chat and work together, we also build a relationship that benefits us all year. I also get tons of help setting up our labs for the day (I teach science). I now have 4-8 kiddos coming in on any given morning to help and need to manage them a bit (so they can get to work when I need to help a student on work or visit with my student teacher.)

I'm thinking of making a job board- a poster I laminate with jobs that always need to be maintained as well as a space to add errands, lab set-ups, tasks I think of and want to add on sticky notes.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a title for my board or my crew of helpers?

How fortunate you are! Nothing particularly creative, but:

Student Names
Lab Crew (already mentioned)
Lab Techs
Lab Assistants

Board Names
Help Wanted
To Do

Suggestion for your board. What if on your laminated board you put a place to check it off as it is done so you can see at a glance what needs to done yet when school starts.

I had a similar job board, only mine had velcro dots on it. I had pre-made cards and laminated blank cards with velcro on the back. I would put up the jobs I needed to have done, and as a student completed it, he/she removed it from the board and put it in the box under the board.

I have it up. I ended up using a display idea from a local teacher friend. Currently the starfish and crabs are attached with tape, but that is only until I can find the velcro dots. I made plenty of blank shapes for adding tasks as I need them. I also have a basket near the life preserver for placing completed task cards.
