In science next quarter we are to cover reduce, reuse, and recycle with our first graders. Our science curriculum has a couple of ideas. I'm looking for any other ideas that you may use in your class to teach this, projects, assignments, activities, etc. Thank you for any ideas you may have!

Got these from someone here on ProT - some of the poems are about the 3 R's. I have my class make a recyclosaurs during our dinosaur unit and they come out great.

My kids love this song:

Reduce, Recycle, and Reuse
(sung to: Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes)

Reduce, recycle, and reuse,
That's the way!
Reduce, recycle, and reuse,
That's the way!
That's the way to make a brighter day,
Reduce, recycle, and reuse,
That's the way!

There are actions that are sign language to go with this song...it was from Mailbox magazine a number of years ago.

I have also made labels and had kids sort recycling into containers.
A class book could be "I help the earth by..."
