In an earlier post someone here on proteacher posted her idea. She changed the dance the cha-cha slide to the cardinal directions. left and right become east and west, back becomes south. Then the children dance the cha - cha slide to the new directions. I did it with my class and they loved it! In fact they asked if they could dance as part of our Halloween celebration! You can hear the song on You tube. Just type in cha-cha slide.

I use activites from this book about once a month. The directions in the book for drawing are up, down, left and right, but I just change it to north, south, east and west. The kiddos love them.

I use the mnemonic "Never Eat Soggy Worms" to teach clockwise cardinal directions. My first graders love saying it and it sticks with them!
