update: Binders not ordered by secretary

I took the advice from the other thread and started referring parents to the principal and secretary about the binders. They were not happy with me but oh well I wasn't too happy with them either.

So I went to school to do some cleaning in the aftermath of the halloween party and I found an envelope with my name on it attached to my white board behind my desk. There was a money order for $100 with a note from (I assume a parent) that said go and buy the binders for the kids but please keep it anonymous who donated. Well it's anonymous because they didn't sign their name. I am shocked, humbled and thankful!

I'm shopping for binders today!

I got a good deal on binders from www.shoplet.com before school started. They shipped quickly.

It was so generous of the parent to do that, but isn't it a shame that he or she would feel the need to do so because the binders you requested were never ordered?

May not be a parent

You just never know- could be from a colleague, the principal, the secretary, whoever. Do parents usually get access to teacher's rooms alone?

but we were all there for the Halloween party so I just assumed that it was a parent. It could have been someone else though.

What a kind, generous thing to do. I'm glad you got some money for your binders. I hope you can find a good price for them and not have to go through the secretary to make an order. I highly suggest you DON'T.

BTW- Good for you on sending upset parents to the principal and secretary. They have no right to be angry with you, the decision to nix the binders order was not yours, it was the secretary's. If she is convinced that she has both the authority and right to do so, let her explain herself to the parents.

Enjoy the binders!
