stand alone program in comp lab

I am on a committee whose job is to pick a stand alone program for our computer lab. We were provided no information about the possible options. Through some research we have discovered, Education City, Compass Odyssey, and Study Island. We had Plato but it did not work in our district. It had too many problems in our lab. Is anyone using any of the above mentioned programs? Opinions please... I thought there were many out there and am finding out there are not many choices. We do not have a computer teacher. We take our students to the lab. We have a para who helps keep the lab running. Any info is greatly appreciated as we are twiddling our thumbs. We are especially have a hard time with Kdg and 1st. It takes them 20 min to log in.

Techknowledge. It is a good program. We have a para as our computer teacher, too. She sets each kid up with a log-in and then they navigate it. The para does have to help the k kids log-in, but she usually has them in assigned seats and logs them in right before they get to the lab so there is no time just sitting.

I used Compass Odyssey for summer school this past year. It was geared towards math, so I'm not very familiar with the Language Arts program on Compass. I liked how the students could move at their own pace and how it taught the concept, and walked the kids through the skills providing the necessary scaffolding. It requires a lot of time for the teacher to analyze the data for each student and then make the necessary adjustments in each student's assignments so that they are not too easy or too difficult. It wasn't hard for even the young kids to log in. We had them use their first and last name and then a very simple password which was the same for everyone.

the class before kindergarten is computer literate thus the log in for the child that follows them and my students immediate start earobics and then move into another site that has an icon on desktop.

I guess I am not sure what you are looking for, a complete computer curriculum?

I like the Lexia software. We have used that PK-12. It is based on Orton-Gillingham and the children enjoy it. It keeps track of each child entered.

I have used Earobics for PK-12 LD (auditory discrimination)

We don't have a math program for learning math. There are quite a few websites that different teacher use. We also use "Math Facts in a Flash".

We use Orchard Software. My school only has the math version, but I know that is also has a language arts compnent. I like using Orchard, because you can choose what activities you want your child to work on, so you can adjust for your low or high kiddos.

Thank you. It seems there are less options then we thought. It seems like compass offeres what we are looking for.
