3rd Grade Writing Narrative Stories

Hi! I am looking for a lesson plan that would lead me step by step through the writing process to teach my students how to write a narrative story. This week our story will be "Stone Soup" by Jon Muth and our reading series gives prompts for narrative writings, but no real "How To's". Help!

WritingA-Z.com has a good step-by-step lesson plan. You can get a free sample of their Narrative writing plan. Might be what you are looking for

Lucy Calkins writing is perfect...the first whole book in her series is personal narratives and you can literally read from her books to do the mini lessons each day! She does say that we should be doing (90 mins) a day of WRITING but we both know thats NOT gonna happen with such high demands for other areas as well but I have to say that my students writing is great. For my really low writiers i have them picture draw and then tell me their words and i put them on sticky notes and have them copy them into their journals. Lucy is really great! Worth giving a look at!

G'sssss Thanks guys! I did find the A to Z thing which is working out pretty well. I am however, going to look at the Lucy Calkins stuff. I like the fact of "retraining" myself to "teach" writing. I can write pretty well, but teaching it is another story. I really appreciate the input guys, thanks!

I would like to know as well. I see she has several books, but I am not sure which one to use.
